Question
Assalamu Alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh, the Aqeedah of Ahlus-Sunnah Wal Jamaa´a regarding The Names and Attributes of Allah is that they judge it according to the apparent meaning, so if we say for example: Do not curse the time, because Allah is the time, can we then say according to the apparent, time is one of the Names of Allaah? but then our judgement would oppose the other part of the same Hadith because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: do not curse the time because Allaah is the time, he causes the night to follow the day. Hence, upon completing the Hadith we realise that it is not from the Names of Allaah, rather it is like reciting the verse: ´So woe to those who pray´, and saying Allaah is cursing those who pray, while if we recite the verse to the end, where Allah says: ´[But] who are heedless of their prayer, And withhold [simple] assistance´. It would become clear to us, that Allah is speaking about certain people. Therefore it was obligatory to clarify, and to mention that which has preceded and that which came after it. So my question is:-Is it permissible to mention a text without mentioning it´s latter part, bearing in mind that meaning will be different from the actual meaning when the text is complete?-
reply
Wa alaykum assalaam wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh, to proceed:-
This is not permissible, because the meaning changes completely with the changing of the text [mentioning one part from the speech], and this would not be the intention of the speaker behind his words, Allaah Knows Best
